Summer 2020:

With the pandemic in full swing, members of the Greater Louisville Alumnae Chapter attended the first ever Virtual Convention. This year the GLAC was awarded the Patricia Carlin Smith Award. This award recognizes a chapter working beyond the call of duty for and with collegians.

Spring 2018:

We had a lot of exciting things happen this spring! About 20 of our members, Collegiate and Alumnae, gathered together at the annual Panhellenic Luncheon. Two Sigma Kappa Collegiate members received scholarships from Greater Louisville Alumnae Panhellenic to continue their studies. You can read the full article here.

Our own Nicole Green was featured in Southern Living, and she looked fabulous while showing off the city of Louisville.

Winter 2017:

The lovely women of GLAC SK got together for the annual Christmas party! Jamie Farley was gracious enough to open her home and host us. We had great food and even had an ornament exchange!

Fall 2017:

A group of lovely Sigmas got together for drinks and food at Drakes. It is so much fun getting together and catching up with everyone! Our Alumnae group gets together about once a month for brunch, dinner or an event. We hope that you can make it out for the next one! Check out our events page or our Facebook group!

Summer 2017:

For each new chapter member a current, active member refers by December 31, 2017, the alumnae chapter will grant 10% off 2018 dues. So if you refer one member, you’ll pay $45 instead of $50. Two members equals $40, three members equals $35 and so on. The referral alumna will have until the due date on their invoice to join for the offer to be valid for the current member.
Even better –  if a member brings in a 25, 50 or 75 year member, we’ll give you 20% off 2018 dues!

Spring 2019:

Greater Louisville Alumnae Chapter joined forces with our local chapters for Day of Service. Pictured, is Alpha Theta, University of Louisville and GLAC at alumna sister Leah Ferguson Smith's Adult Day Center. We joined forces to host a 50's themed sock hop with 50's music, cars from the decade, dancing, snacks, and Easter Baskets. Fun was had by all and we even made the Bullitt County newspaper.

Winter 2016:

On 12/11 thirteen GLAC members came together at the Alpha Theta house to celebrate the holiday with their sisters. Everyone brought a dish to share and an ornament for our ornament exchange. The food was great and the company was fantastic. We read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” as we passed our ornaments every time the word “the” was read. Thank you to all the sisters that came out to make this party such a success.

Summer 2016:

Greater Louisville Alumnae: This past summer the Greater Louisville Alumnae Chapter had 10 members in attendance at the 87th Sigma Kappa National Convention; Jennifer Helton (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville), Sierra Ashby Gamm (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville), Laura Turner (Epsilon Zeta, Western Kentucky University), Jennifer Painter (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville), Mary Cooper (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville), Malana Hartzog Salyer (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville), Mandy Johnston Hillman (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville), Julie Linnenbringer Napper (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville), Jill Mischler (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville), and Stephanie Archerson Paulin (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville).

While at the convention, our chapter was able to bond closer together and explore the great city of Chicago. We were able to make it to the Taste of Chicago Festival, the Chicago Art Institute, The American Girl Doll Store, the original Uno Pizza and the Miracle Mile. We also met to elect new offers, go over new and exciting ideas to grow our chapter, as well as planned out our calendar for the next several months. Upcoming events include monthly dinners, monthly lunches with two locations in Louisville so everyone can attend, painting night, and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The elected officers were Sierra Ashby Gamm (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville) as the President and Alumnae/Collegiate Liaison Chairman, Jennifer Helton (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville) as the Vice President of Membership and the Vice President for Finance, Laura Turner (Epsilon Zeta, Western Kentucky University) as the Vice President of Communication and the Vice President of Philanthropic Service, Mandy Johnston Hillman (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville) as the Vice President for Programming, and Kelly Farley Henry (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville) as the Alumnae Panhellenic Delegate.

This biennium, we received four honorable mention awards, which include he Gerentology Service Award, The Patricia Carlin Smith Award, the Outstanding Public Relations Award, and the Mary Caffrey Low Carver Award.

We are so proud to have one of our own alumna sisters, Malana Hartzog Salyer (Alpha Theta, University of Louisville), was elected to serve on National Council as the National Vice President for Collegiate Chapters. Congratulations, Malana! We know that you will do a fabulous job!

Autumn 2015:

The Greater Louisville Alumnae Chapter has seen much growth this year in membership, activities and fundraising. The chapter now has over 30 dues-paying members with seven recently graduated alumnae. In August, Helen Keen Evans, (Kappa Theta, Saint Louis University), hosted a special meeting focused on Alzheimer’s at her home. Members listened to a speaker from the local Alzheimer’s Association chapter and viewed Still Alice. Also, this fall several members participated in a Sips and Art event and visited a local winery for drinks and farm picking in the pumpkin patches. A favorite annual activity is participating in the grape harvest at Turtle Run Winery. The winery pays charitable organizations to help with the harvest and our members have fun picking grapes while trying not to stain their fingers!

The chapter raised $805 for Alzheimer’s research!

Winter events will include an Adopt-A-Meal philanthropy event at Ronald McDonald House on October 19, Founders’ Day in Bowling Green, KY with other Kentucky collegiate and alumnae chapters on November 8 and a holiday dinner and shopping event in December.

Congratulations are in order for Helen Keen Evans, (Kappa Theta, Saint Louis University) as she and her husband are awaiting the arrival of their first baby in 2016!
